The Toronto Maple Leafs have just suffered a major blow to their hopes of staying alive in the current playoffs.
On Tuesday, coach Sheldon Keefe announced that Ilya Samsonov would not be available for Wednesday's playoff game due to injury.
The Leafs have no choice but to call up 24-year-old rookie Joseph Woll, who has only 13 games of NHL experience under his belt.
Woll has a .846 save percentage and a 3.85 GAA in two playoff games this year.
The injury news is a blow to the Leafs who were already struggling to keep up with their opponents in the second round, having lost the first three games of the series against the Panthers.
The situation looks dire as it appears that the Leafs are on the verge of being swept out of the playoff race after winning their first series in almost 20 years.
Fans are now hoping that Woll can step in and get their team out of this mess.
