Following months of waiting, it looks like the IIHF finally came to its senses concerning player protection.
IIHF Makes Neck Guards Mandatory for World Junior Championship an U-18 Tournament
Darren Dreger reported on X that the Internation Ice Hockey Federation decided to make neck guards mandatory for the WJC and the U-18 championship.
He added that no decision has been made yet for the World Championship.
"The @IIHFHockey has agreed to make neck protection mandatory for the World Junior Hockey championship and the Men's U18 championship. A final decision still has to be made on the Men's and Women's World Hockey Championships."
This is a ground breaking advancement in hockey, and we can only hope that other organizations will do the same!
