The Washington Capitals are looking to add a top piece before training camp in hopes of returning to the playoffs.
Capitals Looking To Add Top Six Forward
Recently, reports have surfaced stating that the Washington Capitals are looking to add another top-six forward before the start of training camp, which normally starts in mid-late September.
They currently have an aging core consisting of Alex Ovechkin, Nicklas Backstrom, Evgeny Kuznetsov, Tom Wilson, TJ Oshie, Anthony Mantha, and Dylan Strome. Strome is the only one under the age of 27.

If the Capitals are looking to acquire a top-six forward, they will have to part with some top assets.
They have some top draft picks like Ivan Miroshnichenko (20th in 2022), Hendrix Lapierre (22nd in 2020), Ryan Leonard (8th in 2023), and Andrew Cristall (40th in 2023) who all possess a lot of trade value.
The Capitals are also in possession of all of their first-round picks over the next three years and have four second-round picks over the same period.
If they find the right package for the right player, we could see the Capitals go and acquire another top forward who can help them in their quest for the cup.
