The Toronto Maple Leafs have looked into signing depth defensemen Jordan Oesterle, who happens to be good friends with Leafs forward Tyler Bertuzzi.
With free agency rapidly approaching, one X (formerly twitter) user says that the Maple Leafs could look to sign Oesterle to improve their depth on the back end.
The user also states that Oesterle is good friends with Tyler Bertuzzi, having played together with the Detroit Red Wings from 2021-2023.

The speculation around Oesterle leads to curiosity over Bertuzzi's contract situation, as the Leafs are still trying to come to terms with him on a long term deal, and perhaps brining in an old friend might be beneficial to the Maple Leafs cause.
Oesterle, 31, split time between the Calgary Flames and their AHL affiliate last season, posting 2 points in 22 NHL games. He has also spent time with the Arizona Coyotes, Edmonton Oilers, and Chicago Blackhawks throughout his 10-year stint in the NHL.
More of a stay at home defender, Oesterle has accrued 86 points in 371 career NHL games, and would provide the Leafs some depth on defence, and a great locker room presence in the minor for the Toronto Marlies.
Regardless of Oesterle as a player, signing the veteran could be a sneaky way to entice Tyler Bertuzzi to sign long term in Toronto.
