Joel Edmundson was a big acquisition for the Toronto Maple Leafs at the trade deadline, and now he could be back in the lineup very soon.
After playing seven games for the Maple Leafs upon arrival in Toronto, Joel Edmundson has been missing from the lineup for a number of weeks now, and Sheldon Keefe has now given an interesting update on the veteran blue liner.
"Sheldon Keefe says Joel Edmundson remains out today and tomorrow but may return later this week
Leafs have games Thursday (vs Devils) and Saturday (vs Wings)"

According to Keefe, he's no chance of returning early in the week, but with tough games against New Jersey and Detroit later in the week, Edmundson is likely to slot back into the lineup.
In 51 games this season for Washington and Toronto, Edmundson has tallied just 1 goal and 5 assists, but that's not the part of his game that the Maple Leafs acquired him for.
While he wasn't the puck-moving star that Toronto needed on the blue line, Edmundson brings valuable leadership, experience and physicality to their lineup, and with some tough playoff series ahead if they want to chase a Stanley Cup, he'll be a necessity in their lineup if they are to break a 57 year drought.
