Matt Murray Returns to the Ice Ahead of Leafs Practice

Murray has been recovering from major hip surgery for the entirety of the season thus far. However, he has just made a massive step in his return to play today, as he was on the ice to take shots ahead of Leafs practice today.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have no shortage of goaltenders at their disposal right now, as they have been juggling Ilya Samsonov, Joseph Woll, and Martin Jones between the pipes since they have all returned to their full health.

With Murray getting close to a return, it begs the question of what roster moves the Leafs will have to make in order to accommodate him. They definitely do not need 4 goaltenders on the roster, and with the trade deadline past, they will have to send some down to the minors.

The focus for the Leafs, though, has been on the blue line. They have been figuring out the proper pairings, recently scratching long-time and stable defenseman Brodie.
