The Toronto Maple Leafs are on a collision course for their division rival Boston Bruins in round one, and it appears their mind games aren't phasing the Leafs.
Early on Friday, it appeared as though the Boston Bruins were revealing their game one goaltender, but in what appeared to be mind games, they made a statement of not naming a starter. It's unclear what the tactic behind this move was, but when asked about it, the Maple Leafs are making it clear that they simply don't care.
The best quote on the situation came from veteran forward
Calle Jarnkrok, who simply said; ‘I couldn't care less'.
Max Domi also made an interesting comment, where he implied this was a normal thing for the playoffs, showing that the Bruins decision to publicize their mind games was a very weird one.
While the Maple Leafs have come into playoff runs before full of nerves due to the expectations and holes on their own team, but in 2023-24 it may be different, as they are full of confidence and optimism. We will see whether or not that translates onto the ice, but for now, neither team is backing down in what should be an incredible series to start the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
