The entire city of Toronto was heartbroken after their team lost a brutal game seven, and now goaltender Ilya Samsonov has shared his thoughts on the game.
While Ilya Samsonov played well during game seven against the Bruins, stopping 30 of the 32 shots he saw on the night, but ultimately, everyone only remembers the last one. Now, with the players facing the media as a part of their exit interviews, Samsonov has detailed the struggles he's gone through since Saturday night;
Ilya Samsonov says he doesn't remember the last time he felt this down and adds "I needed to play better" in the series against Boston.
On his status as a pending UFA, he says: "I love this city. Love everybody on this team."

Samsonov wasn't stellar through the first four games of the series, with
Joseph Woll taking over in games five and six, and Ilya recognizes that he had to be better throughout the series.
Unsurprisingly, Samsonov showed love to the city and the support they've shown for him, and as he is a UFA this summer, he's revealed how much he loves both the team and the city. It's unclear what direction Toronto will go in net, as Woll is likely to take over as the starter following incredible performances in games five and six, and while fans may not want him back in net, he would be a fantastic backup for this team going forward.
There's plenty of changes coming in Toronto, so they will certainly dictate Samsonov's future, so we will need to wait and see where he ends up as a free agent after a solid 2023-24 campaign.
