Former Maple Leaf Speaks Out In Support Of Rielly
In a press conference former Maple Leafs defenseman
Luke Schenn was asked for his thoughts on the Morgan Rielly play. The now Nashville Predator sided with Rielly in saying that he was justified in how he reacted.
I thought [the empty-netter] was ridiculous, honestly. I'm on Rielly's side on this one. Obviously, it was an accident to cross-check him in the face... Maybe he needs some perspective there not to do that.

While agreeing with Rielly Schenn also admitted that Rielly needs to be more aware of the places he puts his stick when being engaged physically. Schenn seems to agree with the idea behind what Morgan Rielly did but thinks the execution could have been put in place better.
Morgan Rielly continues to await the results of his appeal. Hopefully, for him, the individuals hearing the appeal will agree with Schenn's assessment of the events.
