The Toronto Maple Leafs could be buyers as we head towards the trade deadline. Now we know one player they might be interested in.

Leafs Rumored To Be In On Canadiens Center

After top center Elias Lindholm came off the trade market today, new rumors came out about what other centers could be on the move. The 24/7 podcast reported that the Leafs are interested in Canadiens center Sean Monahan.
I am told that the Leafs are in on Monahan. #LeafsForever
That being said, the market price has been set high with Lindholm garnering so much in return from the Canucks.

Monahan Value Increasing Following Lindholm Trade

Elias Lindholm was traded to the Vancouver Canucks today. The return shocked many as the Canucks sent Andrei Kuzmenko, Hunter Brzustewicz, a 1st round pick and a conditional 4th round pick back to the Flames.
This would seem to indicate that trade deadline pieces won't come cheaply this year. Monahan is directly comparable to Lindholm so the market for him is pretty much set. Monahan has 13 goals and 35 points this year compared to Lindholm's 9 goals and 32 points. Canadiens fans should expect their team to get a similar return now.
The Canadiens are absolutely getting a first round pick minimum for Sean Monahan. Market has been set and that's no longer a question. Probably a 1st and a solid prospect.
If that is the price the Leafs are going to have to pay, Brad Treliving may have second thoughts about pursuing the center.
