After some negative news in recent times, a top source in the KHL has delivered some potentially fantastic news on top Maple Leafs prospect Rodion Amirov.
Amirov was diagnosed with a brain tumour in early 2022, and in recent months, it appeared that it could signal the end of his on-ice hockey career.

However, Rinat Bashirov, General Director of Salavat Yulaev, Amirov's KHL team has recently revealed in an interview that that may not quite be the case, as there is hope for Amirov after all.
A comeback on the horizon?
While nothing is imminent, Bashirov revealed that his treatment is coming along well, and the team believe he could return to the ice at some point:
He continues treatment, there is a positive trend. He has full confidence that he will go on the ice. Of course, if Rodion played for us, it would be a completely different team. I can tell that he has matured a lot. He continues to work, his parents and we support him very much, and, of course, Rodion took the signing of the contract positively. We pray for him. I believe that he will return, we are all waiting for him.
At just 21-years of age, there's still plenty of time for him to get back on the ice, and if the updates continue to trend in this way, he still may one day have a chance at the NHL, so we hope for the best from a promising young prospect.
