The United States has been fortunate to witness the rise of three generational hockey stars over the past two decades.

There was an opportunity for fans to see the magic of Auston Matthews and Jack Hughes sharing the ice with the veteran superstar, Patrick Kane during the Olympics. However, due to a decision by the NHL and Gary Bettman, this did not come to fruition.
Now, the next opportunity for this trio to play as a unit might be in 2026, when Patrick Kane would be 37.

Kane's Thoughts on Matthews

In a recent conversation, Patrick Kane delved deep into his bond with Matthews:
"We stay in touch throughout the season and got a lot of respect for him as a player, how good he is at scoring goals, his shot, just his overall game,"

"He's become one of the best players in the league, so would've been huge to have that type of player on the U.S. team and maybe get a chance to play with him as well. Hopefully, we can get a chance to play together in the future, another big tournament, and have that opportunity."

"I just think in general, for USA Hockey, we would've put together a pretty competitive team, and that's disappointing,"

"I don't think that'll change four years from now, but would've been fun to have that opportunity and welcome the next generation of USA hockey players and be able to be part of that."

Kane's Future and the Possibility of Joining Matthews

Currently a free agent, speculation is rife about Kane possibly taking a new direction to align himself with Matthews. Might a championship chase with Toronto be on his radar? Such a move would certainly be a treat for hockey enthusiasts.
