Insider Reveals Exactly What the Leafs Were Offering For a Goalie Trade
This NHL insider just leaked what the Toronto Maple Leafs were offering up for a potential goalie trade, and who he believes the offer was made to.
Leafs In Goalie Trouble After Series of Unfortunate Events This Season
The Toronto Maple Leafs weren't pegged as the team to have issues between the pipes this season after
Ilya Samsonov had a successful post-season last year and with
Joseph Woll making his come-up to the NHL. The addition of Martin Jones was another safety precaution, and it seemed the Leafs were set.
However, that hasn't been the case. With Woll out with injury, and Samsonov sent to the minors for his struggles, the Leafs are a team that is shopping for a goaltender. Now, we have an idea as to what they are offering in exchange for a goalie.
Must read on Daily Hockey Dose
Elliotte Friedman says that the GM of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Brad Treliving, offered to several teams a sixth-round pick for a goalie, which every team refused. He would have hoped that a team would be desperate enough to trade one.
Luke Fox of Sportsnet speculates that Dan Vladar (Flames),
Jake Allen (Canadiens),
Eric Comrie (Sabres), and
Anton Forsberg (Senators) were among the goalies targeted by Toronto.
A sixth-round pick isn't much, that's for sure, but you can't blame Treliving for trying. Also, it is clear that Treliving isn't feeling the desperation that others are speculating the Leafs have to find a goaltender.
Leafs Shutout Kings Quelling Some Goalie Issue Chatter
The Leafs are doing everything possible to shut down the talks that they are in trouble in the net, and last night they showed that maybe Treliving doesn't need to be as desperate as we all think. The Leafs were able to shut out the LA Kings, as Martin Jones put up a 29-save performance in his 30th career shutout.
Martin Jones! 29-save shutout! 30th of his career!
With Jones and Hildeby as the Leafs' current duo, we will see if Treliving can find any team to bite on his 6th-round offer, or if he believes that the Leafs are desperate enough for backup that they need to up their ante.
