Friedman Discloses Candidates Interviewed for the Maple Leafs' GM Position

The Maple Leafs have revealed a list of prospective candidates who've had preliminary conversations with Brendan Shanahan. However, the final selection is still pending.

During an episode of '32 Thoughts: The Podcast', hockey insider Elliotte Friedman offered some insight into the candidates under consideration. According to him, the Leafs have already interviewed Brad Treliving, former Calgary Flames GM, in-person.

Additionally, a virtual interview with Marc Bergevin, ex-Montreal Canadiens GM, and conversations with Doug Wilson, former San Jose Sharks GM, have taken place. Furthermore, Friedman teased about a mystery interviewee whose identity has not been disclosed yet.

He also suggested that the clandestine interviewee is unlikely to be Peter Chiarelli, Mark Hunter or Jason Botterill.

Renowned insider Darren Dreger has fueled the rumor mill by suggesting that the Leafs might be delaying their decision until the Dallas/Vegas series wraps up.

While the search for a new GM continues, the situation remains largely conjectural. Leafs fans are grappling with doubts about the decision to let Dubas go.

Moreover, there is a minimal amount of faith in the prospective replacements to alleviate these concerns.
