The Toronto Maple Leafs have relied heavily on their famous "Core Four" for a long time. These players have been the face of the team for quite a while.

However, this has recently caused some problems within the team. The Leafs' management now wants to shift the focus away from the Core Four during the off-season and instead build a sense of unity among the entire team.
Brad Treliving has a plan for the upcoming season: create a physically tough team that is difficult to play against. He intends to do this by adding high-quality players to the bottom-six, who can bring the necessary toughness and help the team work together.
Kyle Dubas already employed a similar strategy by acquiring Noel Acciari and Ryan O'Reilly from the Blues during the last season. Everyone is in agreement that they would like to see them return next season.
But Treliving has another player in mind who could be the missing piece of the puzzle.

Hathaway in Toronto?

Garnet Hathaway, who was traded from the Capitals to the Bruins this season, played a crucial role in Boston's successful end to the season. He is set to become a free agent on July 1st and is eager to sign a new contract in the NHL.
There is an interesting connection between Hathaway and Treliving, which could open the door for him to join the Toronto Maple Leafs.
"Garnet Hathaway's first-ever professional hockey game was as a member of the Calgary Flames organization and his first-ever NHL contract was signed by Brad Treliving.

Hathaway's exactly the type of perfect fourth-liner this team needs."

Hathaway could be a great addition to Toronto, especially since they need strong players for their bottom-six.
Last season, he played a total of 84 games for Washington and Boston. He scored 13 goals and had 22 points primarily playing on the fourth line.
His record of +5, 69 penalty minutes, 268 hits and 83 blocked shots shows that he plays with intensity.
Do you think Treliving should sign Garnet Hathaway?
