Sharks GM Ready to Trade Both of His Star Players This Season
The Sharks are quickly entering what could be a rebuilding era, and their GM recently confirmed he was willing to trade their biggest stars.
GM Confirms He Is Willing to Trade Hertl and Couture When Time is Right
The Sharks are coming off a pretty abysmal season last year, finishing bottom five with a bleak record of 22-44-16. They recently traded their biggest asset and leading scorer
Erik Karlsson this offseason, and their GM just confirmed they could be looking to make additional trades.
"I check in with (Hertl and Couture) a lot, and if there ever were to come a time when they felt like they needed or wanted to go somewhere else, it's definitely something I would listen to, and if it made sense for us, I would explore it," - GM Mike Grier

Couture and Hertl Key Piece of Sharks Recent History and Could be Gone Soon
Both Couture and Hertl are in long-term contracts with the Sharks, but seeing that Grier is willing to move them if they want out is a tough sign for Sharks fans. Couture, the Captain of the team, scored 27 goals and 67 points last season. Hertl had 22 goals and 63 points.
Grier did reiterate that both Hertl and Couture want to win in San Jose, and are fully committed to the team.
"They're all in," Grier said, "They enjoy working with (head coach David Quinn) and the coaching staff. They're excited by some of the young players."
This is important for the Sharks, as both players will have a big say in whether or not they are traded. Hertl has a full no-move clause through 2025, and Couture has a 29-team no-trade clause.
