Penguins reporter reveals contract talks have stalled with Sidney Crosby

Pittsburgh Penguins superstar Sidney Crosby is entering the final year of his contract with the team. This has led to extension talks and worry from fans about the future of Sidney Crosby in Pittsburgh. Earlier this month NHL insider David Pagnotta confirmed extension talks were underway between the Penguins and Sidney Crosby.

This was a positive update heading into free agency. However, today a new report has cast a shadow over the extension talks and put Sidney Crosby's future in Pittsburgh in some doubt.

Pittsburgh Penguins writer Dan Kingerski shared his findings on the Sidney Crosby contract saga. According to his sources contract talks between Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins have not found common ground since they began.

This on its own would not be all that concerning but Sidney Crosby being in the final year of his contract and another similar situation has many on edge. The Tampa Bay Lightning were having similar reports come out around this time last year in relation to Steven Stamkos. In that situation, the two sides did not agree and Steven Stamkos signed in free agency with the Nashville Predators.

This situation with Steven Stamkos has fans feeling an eerie sense of de ja vu with Sidney Crosby. Of course, there is still a year until Sidney Crosby's contract expires which leads to plenty of time for a deal to be struck. This will be a situation to watch as the offseason continues to develop.
