Penguins lose star defenseman Ryan Graves for the season due to injury

The Pittsburgh Penguins are in the middle of a crucial playoff push. Today the team announced that they will be without defenseman Ryan Graves for the rest of the season due to injury.

The Pittsburgh Penguins announced today that they have placed Ryan Graves on Long-Term Injured Reserve (LTIR). Earlier this season Ryan Graves suffered a concussion and now it seems as though his recovery will be more significant than previously thought.

Defenseman Ryan Graves has been placed on injured reserve.




Due to the rules surrounding LTIR Ryan Graves will be forced to miss at least 10 games and 24 days with this injury. To this point he has missed 15 days and and 5 games. The Penguins have 4 games remaining in the regular season this means Ryan Graves will miss at least the first game of the playoffs if the Penguins can squeak in.

As Ryan Graves continues his recovery we will provide updates on his condition and eventual return to the lineup.
