There's some news coming out of Pittsburgh today! The Penguins have just inked forward Jesse Puljujarvi to a sweet two-year contract, as announced by their President of Hockey Operations and GM, Kyle Dubas.

This deal will keep Puljujarvi in Pittsburgh through the end of the 2024-25 season, with an AAV of $800,000.

Pittsburgh's Power Move: Securing Puljujarvi's Signature

Puljujarvi's journey to this contract wasn't without its twists and turns. He started off with a professional tryout back in December and has since been tearing it up with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in the AHL. In just 13 games, he's racked up four goals, five assists, and nine points – talk about making a solid impression!

Standing tall at 6-foot-4 and weighing in at 201 pounds, Puljujarvi brings size and skill to a Penguins lineup in need of grit. He's no stranger to the NHL scene either, having suited up for both the Edmonton Oilers and the Carolina Hurricanes in the past. Over his NHL career, he's registered 114 points in 334 games. Plus, his best offensive season came with the Oilers in 2021-22, where he had 14 goals and a career-high 22 assists.

Yet Puljujarvi's talents extend beyond North America. He's got some international experience under his belt, representing Team Finland at various tournaments like the World Juniors and the World Championships. He even snagged the MVP title at the 2016 World Juniors after leading the tournament with a dozen assists and 17 points in 7 games.

Born in Sweden but raised in Finland, Puljujarvi has been making waves in hockey circles since he was drafted fourth overall by the Oilers in the 2016 NHL Draft.

Overall, it looks like the Penguins have landed themselves a natural talent in Puljujarvi, and fans are excited to see what he'll bring to the ice in Pittsburgh!
