The Toronto Maple Leafs have had a busy summer, and with two big contracts to work out, it's becoming clearer that some type of blockbuster is on the way soon.
One of those players that is up for a new contract is forward William Nylander, who has become a critical part of this core in Toronto over the past few years, putting up solid numbers alongside John Tavares, Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner.
However, given how much they all get paid, it appears that the Leafs won't be able to afford to keep all of them, and this has led to persisting rumours of a Nylander trade.
According to Eklund of Hockey Buzz, a deal could be imminent, with the Leafs working alongside the New York Islanders to potentially get a deal done over the next few days.
That report also states that Jean-Gabriel Pageau will be involved in a deal, and given the assets that they may get back in a deal with the Islanders, it could be a solid move for both teams.
