NHL legend and a key founder in New York Islanders hockey, Gerry Hart, has passed away. The 75-year old was a long time NHL defenseman, who never backed down from a chance to prove he was bigger than his own body.

Thank You For Everything, Gerry!

It's always a sad day when someone dies, but rather than focus on the sadness, we should remember to celebrate their life for what it was. Gerry Hart was a larger personality, and a fan favorite wherever he went. The gritty, undersized defenseman could always be counted on for a much needed energy boost, and as a result found himself playing some crucial minutes in the playoffs throughout his career.
While Hart was best known for his tenure in New York, where he was an inaugural member of the Islanders organization, the blue liner also enjoyed time in Quebec, Detroit, and St. Louis. His fun to watch brand of hockey made him a fan favorite in all of these cities!
Gerry's career in the NHL is a great example of how we should live our lives, never afraid of a challenge that may seem to big for us. We thank Gerry for his time playing the sport we all love, and hope he can now Rest In Peace.
