The Montreal Canadiens were recently a part of the blockbuster deal that sent Erik Karlsson to the Pittsburgh Penguins. The deal saw the Canadiens receive a second-round pick, Jeff Petry, Casey DeSmith, and Nathan Legare. However, Jeff Petry could potentially see himself on his third team of the offseason soon.
Jeff Petry spent eight years as part of the Montreal Canadiens organization. When new general manager Kent Hughes was brought in Petry was sent on his way to the Pittsburgh Penguins. With Petry now back many assume that he will be flipped as he has a lot of value to contending teams. The Canadiens also have the cap space to retain salary and gain even more value from an aging defenseman that does not fit their team's contending window.
