Howden was unhappy with the team's plans for him and chose the easy way out.
Howden was drafted in the first round of the 2010 draft.
For the first six years of his career, he fought for a spot with the Panthers. During his best season, he scored 11 points in 58 games.
After a year in Winnipeg playing mostly in the AHL, he decided to head to Europe.
