Just moments ago, news broke that the Oilers have decided to part ways with Jay Woodcroft as their head coach.

His successor has already been named.

As reported by Frank Seravalli, the Oilers have chosen Kris Knoblauch, the current coach of the Hartford Wolf Pack, the AHL affiliate of the Rangers.

"Hearing Kris Knoblauch is incoming as next #Oilers coach."


"I'm hearing that Hartford Wolf Pack coach Kris Knoblauch is the new coach of the Edmonton Oilers. McDavid former coach in junior."


"Senior advisor Paul Coffey is also stepping behind the bench as assistant coach, according to the Oilers.

Dave Manson was fired along with Jay Woodcroft."


"The #Oilers announced today that head coach Jay Woodcroft & assistant coach Dave Manson have been relieved of their coaching duties.

Hartford Wolf Pack head coach Kris Knoblauch will assume head coaching duties with the Oilers & will be joined by assistant coach Paul Coffey."
