Roman Cechmanek, drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in 2000, played in 212 games between 2000 and 2004, for the Flyers and the Kings.

"We're so sad. Unfortunately, Roman Cechmanek has died. He played over 200 games in the NHL & won William M. Jennings Trophy with Philadelphia. He was 52 years old. Rest in peace, Roman."

Vezina Finalist and Winner of the Jennings Trophy Passes Away

Cechmanek won the William M. Jennings Trophy alongside his teammate Robert Esche in 2003. He also won a gold medal with the Czech Republic at the 1998 Olympics, serving as Dominik Hasek's backup throughout the tournament.

He also proudly secured two gold medals at the World Hockey Championships.

"Sad news: memorable #NHL goaltender Roman Cechmanek dead at 52.

Drafted at age 29. Next season 2000-01: Vezina runner-up to Dominik Hasek, All-Star and 4th in Hart voting.

25 shutouts in 4 seasons! (Consider: Vasilevskiy has 32 in 9.)

And he loved to stop pucks with his head."

As of now, the cause of his passing remains undisclosed.
