After flaming out against their rival the Dallas Stars, the Colorado Avalanche are preparing to make big changes this summer, and they could be buyers in what's expected to be a red-hot goaltender market. In a recent report, it was revealed that the Avalanche could do business with the Boston Bruins in a swap that would see Alexandar Georgiev heading East in return for Linus Ullmark.
The proposed deal would also see Boston acquire young defenseman Samuel Girard, and while it makes sense for both sides, the Bruins may look to get more out of a former Vezina Trophy winner. In the playoffs however, it was Jeremy Swayman that became the teams clear cut No. 1 starter, and while Don Sweeney has addressed a desire to keep the two together, it may make most sense for a deal to happen.
With many teams expected to pursue star goaltenders this summer, there may be many bidding wars, but if the Avalanche can land Ullmark, it will be a big boost to their Stanley Cup hopes.
