The NCAA is no stranger to stars of the future, and while that's a lot of pressure for the latest Penn State commit, he comes with incredible size.
In recent years, hockey has gone from size being a necessity to focusing more on speed and skill, but on the blue line, the NHL still haven't gone away from needing that size and physicality advantage.
Russia is no stranger to sending massive hockey players to North America, but their latest product may just be the biggest of all, as Penn State Hockey recently received a commitment from a 16-year old monster.
Penn State has received a commitment from Russian 2008-born forward Alexander Carmanov.
Must read on Daily Hockey Dose
Despite being just 16-years of age, Alexander Karmanov measures at 6-foot-11, weighing 251 pounds, and while there's little known about his game, it's safe to say he'll be able to take up some space in his defensive zone. In 25 games this season, he has tallied a respectable 9 points, so while he has plenty of development, you just can't teach size like that.
We will see when he arrives whether or not he can be a difference maker, but with size like that, he will be able to effect the game in many ways if developed properly.
