The Edmonton Oilers continue to work the phones tonight pulling off another big trade. This time they will be trading defenseman Cody Ceci to the San Jose Sharks getting defenseman Ty Emberson and a 2025 3rd-round pick in return.
This move lines up with their other move today trading for forward Vasily Podkolzin from the Vancouver Canucks. This seems to be a change of course with these two trades leading to a potential contract match for Philip Broberg.
To this point fans and media were under the impression that the two restricted free agents offered contracts by the St Louis Blues Dylan Holloway and Philip Broberg were going to leave in free agency. If one was going to stay many believed it would be Dylan Holloway. However, the Oilers added a depth forward similar to Dylan Holloway in Vasily Podkolzin and have also now traded away a key defenseman.
