The New Jersey Devils traded Alex Holtz and Akira Schmid to the Vegas Golden Knights during the second day of the 2024 NHL Draft.

We just learned that the New Jersey Devils sent Alexander Holtz and Akira Schmid to the Vegas Golden Knights for Paul Cotter and a 2025 3rd round pick.
Per Pierre LeBrun:
"Devils have acquired F Paul Cotter and Vegas third in 2025 for Alexander Holtz and Akira Schmid"
The Golden Knights had previously traded their goalie Logan Thompson to the Washington Capitals for two 3rd round picks:
"🚨 TRADE ALERT 🚨

The Golden Knights have acquired a 2024 3rd round pick and a 2025 3rd round pick from the Washington Capitals in exchange for goalie Logan Thompson. "
As of now, the Golden Knights could start the 2024-25 season with Akira Schmid and Adin Hill between the pipes, and hope that Schmid can bounce back from a tough 2023-24 season.
Schmid was sent down to the AHL by the Devils at some point in the season and spent a few weeks there following struggles in the NHL.
As for Holtz, he's a promising 22-year-old forward that could develop into an interesting asset.
He tallied 28 points last season, his first complete year in the NHL.
More to come.
