With Kyle Dubas' departure from the Leafs organization, they have started fresh with former Flames GM Brad Treliving, and it seems that since he has joined the Leafs front office, trade rumors have skyrocketed.

Matthews to the Flames?

A recent trade proposal suggests Treliving somewhat repeating a similar trade he made last off season, sending Matthew Tkachuk to the Panthers in exchange for Jonathan Huberdeau and MacKenzie Weegar.

This trade hasn't panned out so far for the Flames however, as we saw a steep decline in Huberdeau's point totals with Florida, dropping from 115 points with the Panthers in the 2021/22 season, to 55 points with the Flames in the 2022/23 season. Whereas Matthew Tkachuk hit new career highs down south, scoring 109 points in the regular season and added 24 playoff points, just narrowly missing out on the Stanley Cup.

Everyone Wants Out?

According to a recent report by Frank Seravelli, Noah Hanifin, Elias Lindholm, and Mikael Backlund (who are all set to become UFAs next offseason) have no plans on resigning with Calgary.

Seravelli added Tyler Toffoli to that list shortly after, citing that he has no plans to remain with the team and is now available for trade.

This begs the question, should the Leafs trade their superstar for a huge return package, or do whatever it takes to resign him?
