On Wednesday, the NHL was mourning as the Arizona Coyotes played their final home game, but on Thursday, the NHL world was absolutely buzzing about the seemingly official announcement of the move to Utah. In doing so, Ryan Smith and the team released their official website and opened up season ticket holder applications, with an amazing 6,000 already applied for within hours.
Given that Arizona were set to play in an arena that held under 5,000 people for the coming years, it's clear that this is a major upgrade for the NHL, even if the team will be playing at the home of the Utah Jazz, who will see just 12,000 seats available per game.
Still, the excitement is electric in Salt Lake City, and with a team coming over that has a deep, strong core led by Clayton Keller, Mattias Maccielli, Lawson Crouse, Dylan Gunther, Logan Cooley and Josh Doan, it's safe to say that this team is going to be very, very fun from the outset. It's unclear how many season tickets the team will be selling, but right now demand is through the roof, another positive of the team officially moving.
