Attack on official at a hockey game leaves him with brutal injuries

Being an official in sport is a very hard job, and recently it was taken to another level when a hockey player violently lashed out at an official.
Hockey is a very violent sport, but ball hockey isn't known to be the same way, but unfortunately in a recent incident in Quebec, we saw one of the most violent outbursts in recent memory. While there's no video of the incident, the report reveals that after being ejected, a player attacked an official with his stick, striking him to the chest and the head, leaving him with a jaw and a head injury.
These images were shared by Global News that show the extent of the injury suffered by the official, and it's absolutely gruesome to say the least, especially for someone simply volunteering his time to help a game go smoother and make it as high quality as possible.
The image isn't easy to look at, and given the violence we've seen towards officials in several sports in recent times, it's safe to say that this is an ugly trend that needs to be stopped. Beyond the injuries, it appears the official is okay, and there's been no word on the fate of the player, but after that, there's no doubting that he should be banned for life.
