Last night Toronto Maple Leafs forward Matthew Knies was forced out of the team's game with an injury. This afternoon the Maple Leafs and General Manager Brad Treliving were able to give a major update on Knies' health.

Maple Leafs Provide Crucial Update On Knies Health

In his post trade deadline press conference Brad Treliving was asked for an update on forward Matthew Knies. Knies was held out of last night's game after taking a massive hit during the game.

With the Maple Leafs having the day off today there could be no confirmation if Knies was skating. Luckily Treliving was willing to give an update on the young star's condition.
Maple Leafs GM Brad Treliving said Matthew Knies "wanted to play" after leaving the game last night, but the team kept him out for precautionary reasons.

"It wasn't necessarily protocol. We just felt the best to hold him out precautionary for the rest of the game."
Not only was Knies' absence precautionary but Treliving also confirmed they expect him to be available and in the lineup against the Montreal Canadiens.

Leafs at Canadiens on Saturday
Knies was sent down to the AHL earlier today in a transaction to save salary cap space. This means before he can return to the lineup he will need to be called back up to the Maple Leafs.
Hearing the #leafs will send Matthew Knies to the AHL Marlies in a paper transaction today to preserve some flexibility down the stretch, if needed.
If there are any further details on Knies injury or return, we will be sure to provide that to you.
