Insider Reveals Major Update on Phil Kessel's Free Agency Status
Phil Kessel is still unsigned, and many are curious if he will have a contract by the time training camps start. This NHL insider just gave an update the status of his contract negotiations.
Many have been speculating that if Kessel remains unsigned as training camps get closer, he may have to sign a PTO in order to attend one. However, TSN's Chris Johson just revealed he isn't quite there yet.
It sounds like there's some percolating interest from NHL teams in signing Phil Kessel to a contract for this season.
The veteran forward isn't in PTO territory at this juncture.

Kessel Still a Great Addition
The 35-year-old 3-time Stanley Cup champion would be a great addition to almost any team's bottom 6. He definitely has some juice left in the tank, playing all 82 games last season and recording 14 goals and 22 assists. Adding Kessel would bring in an excellent team guy with a Stanley Cup pedigree.
Kessel also has clarified that he is willing to give up his Iron Man streak to play this year. Many NHL teams were likely hesitant to sign him and be handcuffed into playing him every game this year.
It will be interesting to see which team wins the Kessel lottery!
