The surging Vancouver Canucks seems unstoppable this season, sitting first place in the western conference and seem to have no concerns. Well that was until today before insider Rick Dhaliwal reported that Elias Pettersson and Vancouver Canucks haven't really engaged in much conversations regarding a potential extension, causing league sources to sense something turning in the wrong direction.

Important to mention that Pettersson rejected the captaincy before it was given to Quinn Hughes, which showed a lack of commitment from the star forward. A blockbuster for the forward seems very possible.
Canucks aren't getting any indication from Pettersson that he wants to be here long-term. There's frustration there. I have no intel he wants out.

Up until now I always thought EP would re-sign but I'm not so sure now.
Pettersson currently has 74 points in 60 games, most definitely due for a huge pay raise. The Swedish star may be a potential victim to an offer sheet as he will still be an RFA.
Although, Dhaliwal didn't confirm that he would be traded, him not wanting an extension or potentially brushing it off speaks wonders about how he feels in Vancouver, and can be a huge turn off for the organization.
Friedman also shared his side of the story.
More details to come.
