The Toronto Mape Leafs might be losing prospect Veeti Miettinen soon. They want him but he doesn't want them and his rights with the team are set to expire in about a month.
Latest indication is that the team is more interested in the player than the player is the team
Miettinen, was picked by the Leafs in the 6th round back in 2020. He's been a star for St. Cloud State, racking up 118 points in 146 games without a single penalty. Unfortunately, it seems like Miettinen won't be joining the Leafs or wants anything to do with blue and white.

Veeti Miettinen won't return to St. Cloud State for a 5th season and will turn pro, he confirmed on IG.
He finishes his NCAA career with 53 goals and 118 points in 146 games. Didn't take a single penalty over 4 seasons.
TBD whether he'll join Marlies or go elsewhere.
He's signed with KalPa in the Finnish Liiga, which makes it clear he won't be signing with the Leafs before his rights expire. He hasn't signed an NHL entry level deal yet, and the limit on years a prospect can he held without one has been reached.
Whether his pursuit of the NHL is over remains to be seen. But let's not forget, the 22 year-old showed some potential during his NCAA career. Maybe it's just another step in the process. The question is, do the Leafs still want to stay on the ship or jump off?
