The Toronto Maple Leafs have plenty of needs to address this summer, and while they've got plenty of options, it may stretch them too thin to retain some key pieces.

The 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs were expected to be a breakout for the Toronto Maple Leafs, but unfortunately for their long suffering fans, it turned sour quickly once again. The team were bundled out in the first round by the Boston Bruins, and now GM Brad Treliving has some critical decisions to make in the coming weeks and months as free agency and the trade market open.
While all the focus has been on a potential Mitch Marner trade, the team have several key free agents to make decisions on, with Tyler Bertuzzi among them. The veteran forward had a fantastic season in his first year with Toronto, tallying 21 goals and 43 points, the highest personal tally since the 2021 campaign with Detroit.
Many fans want to see the loveable forward back, and now, his agent has given an update that is both good and bad for the Maple Leafs;
"We've had productive talks,» said Reynolds. «But the player realizes that there are other areas for the team to address. We'll see where it goes.»
This update reveals that Toronto and Bertuzzi's camp have been in talks, with things progressing well, while the latter revealed that they are keenly aware of how many holes the Maple Leafs need to fill. Whether or not that forces them to let a Bertuzzi or a Max Domi go is yet to be determined, but one thing is for certain, there's going to be some major changes for the Maple Leafs over the next few months.
