The Toronto Maple Leafs goaltending situation has improved mightily in recent weeks with a stellar run from Ilya Samsonov, but now there may be a wildcard thrown into the situation. Matt Murray has recently been at practice with the team, and with two weeks left until the playoffs, questions have been asked about his potential availability down the stretch.
We're yet to get an official word from the Maple Leafs, but according to TSN's Chris Johnston, that is coming soon;
While Samsonov has staked his claim as the teams No. 1 moving forward, Matt Murray has two Stanley Cup's with the Pittsburgh Penguins under his belt, and could be a valuable No. 2 come playoff time. Whatever the case, the Leafs goaltending appears strong heading down the stretch, and if they can be fully healthy as a team, this may be the year that they make a strong run at the Stanley Cup.
