Toronto Maple Leafs appear to have roster set for next season

With Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving appearing to be done for the large part this summer, we now have a very good idea of what the team's lineup could like like.
The top line will feature the dynamic duo of
Auston Matthews and
William Nylander. That much is virtually guaranteed. So who will be joining them? Perhaps this will be
Easton Cowan's time to shine. The 2023 1st round draft pick came as a surprise to many, but he was a clear standout for the team last training camp as he nearly made the club in his draft +1 season. Perhaps this time he will be a but more successful.
The young forward has already revealed that his goal is to make the team out of camp this season. Given how impressive he was last time around, there's a decent chance he could actually do that. Putting him on the wing with Matthews and Nylander would certainly be putting him in a position to succeed right from the start of his NHL career.

The lineup also features Nick Robertson in a fourth line role. Robertson has formally requested a trade from the team this summer, but it appears as though he may not get his wish. Brad Treliving has already indicated that he intends to keep the 22-year-old. Perhaps though, he will not be happy with a fourth line role and this could further alienate him from team management.
Brad Treliving had an interesting response when asked about Nick Robertson's trade request 👀
The defense core meanwhile has been overhauled with the additions of
Chris Tanev and
Oliver Ekman-Larsson. This gives the team a solid top four of Rielly, Tanev, Liljegren, and Ekman-Larsson.
Tanev was arguably Dallas' best defenseman in the playoffs last season, so he should give the top pair a big boost. Ekman-Larsson on the other hand, is coming off a very strong performance for the Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers, where he revitalized his career. If he can bring that momentum with him to Toronto, it could be a very good season for the Leafs.
