Ryan O'Reilly confirms major rumor regarding Predators interest in Mitch Marner
Nashville Predators forward Ryan O'Reilly potentially has confirmed a rumor about him trying to recruit Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner.
O'Reilly, a former Leaf, glazed his former teammate in a recent interview, confirming the rumors abound he was trying to convince GM Barry Trotz to trade for him prior to NHL free agency.
Prior to the Predators spending a whack of dough on free agents (Steven) Stamkos, Jonathan Marchessault and Brady Skjei, ex-Leaf Ryan O'Reilly did his very best to convince GM Barry Trotz to make a push and trade for Mitch Marner.
For now, Marner remains with the Maple Leafs, but it's intriguing to think about what could have been if O'Reilly had succeeded in bringing him to the music city.

Maybe Toronto GM Brad Treliving doesn't get defenseman Chris Tanev and Stanley Cup champion from the Florida Panthers, Oliver Ekman-Larsson.
O'Reilly's time with the Leafs last season after being traded from the St Louis Blues at last year's deadline, where he won a Conn Smythe trophy after leading them to the Stanley Cup in 2019, was brief but impactful.
