New left wing option Miles Wood emerges to join the Toronto Maple Leafs from the Colorado Avalanche
The Toronto Maple Leafs have been looking to upgrade their roster and today a new suggestion has been made to provide depth in a position of need.
Last season the Toronto Maple Leafs struggled to find success out of their top star players. Depth on both offense and defense has been a point of emphasis throughout the summer. A report from
Elliotte Friedman recently confirmed that the Maple Leafs are looking to add more talent and depth to the left wing.
Since that report, several names have been linked to the Toronto Maple Leafs via free agency including Max Pacioretty and James Van Riemsdyk. The need for a left wing has also intensified due to the fact that Nick Robertson has reportedly decided to not return to the Maple Leafs next season.

With this in mind, a new trade partner has been potentially found that could provide the Toronto Maple Leafs with a quality left winger for a cheap price.
Toronto Maple Leafs could snatch up Miles Wood from the Colorado Avalanche
A new suggestion has been made that Colorado Avalanche forward Miles Wood could be the perfect replacement to head into the Maple Leafs lineup. The Colorado Avalanche are scheduled to have both
Valeri Nichushkin and
Gabriel Landeskog return to their lineup creating major salary cap issues.
As a result, the Toronto Maple Leafs could offer to take on Miles Wood to clear that space. Currently Miles Wood is on a 4-year deal worth 2.5 million dollars per season.
Miles Wood is a consistent third-line forward who can provide nearly 30 points per season on average. In 2023-24 with the Colorado Avalanche Miles Wood had 26 points in 74 games. He brings a physical component to the lineup as well much as former Toronto Maple Leaf
Tyler Bertuzzi. At 28 years old taking on a 4 year contract comes with some risk but Miles Wood is in theory in the prime of his career.
If the Toronto Maple Leafs can take advantage of the Colorado Avalanche needing salary cap space then they can possibly get Miles Wood for less than market value. If the Toronto Maple Leafs are serious about upgrading their left wing position then Miles Wood is a player they should heavily consider.
As more information comes out surrounding the Maple Leafs' pursuit of a new left winger we will continue to provide all the latest updates.
