Mitch Marner and the Toronto Maple Leafs are reportedly working towards a contract extension, despite rumours stating otherwise.

Mitch Marner has been enveloped in trade rumours since the Leafs were eliminated in round 1 by the Boston Bruins once again, but a new report stated that Marner may be running it back with the Core 4 for one more season.
As the NHL draft and free agency draw closer, Brad Treliving continues to be silent on the Mitch Marner front, but well known analyst and former NHLer Paul Bissonette stated on Tuesday's edition of Spittin' Chiclets that the Leafs and Marner were working on a contract extension.
"I'm hearing rumblings they're in the process of negotiating a contract extension with Mitch Marner."

This news circulated through Leafs Nation very quickly, and had many fans even more confused about Marner's future with the team. Marner has made it clear that he would like to be a part of the Leafs future, and would have to waive his NMC to be traded.
Brad Treliving is going to have some tough choices to make ahead of free agency, as the Leafs have been linked to several high profile free agents this off-season.
