Toronto Maple Leafs Matthew Knies is about to enter his second season in the NHL, and appears that he won't be single doing it, as he's found love.
Matthew Knies had a very solid rookie season in 2023-24 with the Leafs, putting up 35 points in 80 games. He will look to build on that season, and may have a little extra pep in his step, now that he appears to be in love.
Knies has just one year remaining on his entry-level deal with the Leafs, and will be looking for a great season so that he can attempt to secure a big pay day. There are no current talks on an extension, as the Leafs may be looking to take a wait and see approach with the situation.
Knies was recently spotted in Europe getting quite close to a lovely lady, with his arm around her. She is Ella Huber, a University of Minnesota top women's hockey player.

Ella referred to Knies as a "bestie", based off a caption in her recent photo. Has he been friend zoned? Likely not, as the two have been spotted together multiple times, really cozying up to each other. Huber also posted recently with a caption that read: "About time I guess 🫂🤍 Happy one year best friend." Knies was likely friend zoned for one year, but has finally crawled his way out and into a relationship with Ella now.
Everyone knows how much potential Knies has, however Huber has quite the lovely track record too. She scored 18 goals and had 42 points in the 39 games she played for the Gophers last season.
Congratulations to the talented hockey couple!
