Sheldon Keefe announced some bad news today regarding defenseman Joel Edmundson as he continues to face an injury since his trade to Toronto.

Joel Edmundson was one of the guys brought in at the deadline this year by Brad Treliving in order to add some reinforcements to the Leafs blueline. However, since arriving in Toronto, Edmundson has struggled to remain healthy, missing time with an injury. Despite coming back to the lineup, Sheldon Keefe has announced today that he will be out again tonight against the Detroit Red Wings as something has 'popped up'.
Sheldon Keefe says Max Domi is in tonight.

Joel Edmundson is out. «Something popped up.»

Timothy Liljegren is in
This is not good news for the Leafs, who need everyone on the back end to be healthy going into the post-season. Their blueline remains one of the bigger uncertainties when thinking about the bigger picture, and not having a key piece in the lineup would be detrimental to their hopes of making a long run.
There is really no need to rush Edmundson back to the lineup, so taking tonight and even the remainder of the season to rest would be a fine idea.
Hopefully, the injury isn't major.
