Ilya Samsonov's time in Toronto has been full of ups and downs, but on Monday, his victory put him among elite company in Maple Leafs history.

Despite a rough, injury riddled start to the season, goaltender Ilya Samsonov has turned it around in a big way, with his latest win capping off a fantastic 2+ month stretch in net for Toronto.
What an incredible stretch it has been for Ilya Samsonov. 🙌
Not only that, but the young goaltender has now made Maple Leafs history, passing Ed Belfour as the second quickest player in team history to notch 50 victories.
llya Samsonov extended his winning streak to five games for the second time this season (6 GP from Feb. 7-24) and became the first @MapleLeafs goaltender with as many stretches in a campaign since Frederik Andersen (3 in 2018-19).
Funnily enough, he fell short of the goaltender who he replaced in Toronto in Jack Campbell, whose career has fallen off a cliff since leaving the Maple Leafs in free agency. So whatever you think of Samsonov, he's certainly proving that he can be a consistent threat in net, and if he keeps this play up over the next few weeks, he may have the momentum needed to help this team on a deep Stanley Cup run.
