The Toronto Maple Leafs have faced a few setbacks between the pipes this season. Ilya Samsonov got demoted to the minors due to performance issues, and Joseph Woll missed almost three months. Now, it seems the Leafs are nearing full strength in their goaltending department, with the announcement that Woll will going to the AHL for conditioning purposes.
Here's the Leafs' official statement:
The @MapleLeafs announced today that G Joseph Woll has been assigned to the @TorontoMarlies on a conditioning loan.
This move indicates that Woll's return is imminent, prompting the Leafs to consider their goaltending options going forward, especially with Martin Jones proving himself during the absences of Woll and Samsonov.
More to come.
