Just a mere two days in, and Ryan Reaves is already etching his name into the history books of the Maple Leafs.
The Maple Leafs recently revealed the jersey numbers for their new acquisitions.
While the choices of Reaves' fellow new recruits, Bertuzzi, Domi, and Klingberg, don't raise many eyebrows as they've all picked digits previously sported by Leafs' players, Reaves' selection is a standout.
The number 75 has been a consistent aspect of Reaves' hockey journey, and it continues in Toronto.
Must read on Daily Hockey Dose
The robust winger has kept the tradition of donning the number 75 jersey throughout his NHL career, irrespective of the franchise he's represented - be it St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Vegas, New York, or Minnesota.
The big news here is that Reaves' preferred number 75 has never seen the light of day in Maple Leafs' rich history. This makes him the first ever Leaf to bear this particular number - an impressive way to kickstart his journey with the franchise.
The only remaining digits yet to be adorned by a Leaf are 66, 68, 69, 79, 86, and 87. All other numbers, including the iconic 0 and 99, have had their day in the Toronto limelight.
Thanks to Reaves, the number 75 has been knocked off that list.
