Now, after enduring four consecutive losses, these doubts have resurfaced.
When asked about the team's recent performance, Mitch Marner offered an intriguing perspective, insisting that the team plays well.
«We're a great hockey team. And we gotta ignore what everyone else says. We know we're a great hockey team. We show up every night. I mean, in these last four games that we've had leads, we've played some awesome hockey, some great hockey,» Marner said.
It's hard to see the situation as Marner does. Considering the Leafs never stop blowing leads, how can we expect them to suddenly start winning in the playoffs?
The Maple Leafs Keep Blowing Leads
Some people believe that the recent struggles of the Leafs can be attributed to their defensive unit. The team has consistently taken leads in games but hasn't been able to keep them.
However, that's not the only problematic area. They haven't been able to score more than three goals in their last four games.
The Leafs have a lot to do before they can win in the playoffs. Do you think they'll reach the second round this year?
