The season hasn't even started and things are already starting to get chirpy.

Mikhail Sergachev Dishes a Cold Serving to the Maple Leafs

Mikhail Sergachev, no stranger to the heat of playoff warfare, carries the wisdom of what it truly means to hoist a cup. And let's just say, he didn't seem particularly wowed by the Leafs' initial round triumph.
Sergachev recently tossed a chilling jab at the Toronto Maple Leafs in a tell-all interview with Sport24, providing his personal perspective on the Tampa Bay Lightning's first-round tumble against the Leafs.
Here's an excerpt from the interview:
Sergachev: "I don't want to put any pluses on Toronto now, they didn't deserve them."

Interviewer: "Why don't you want to put Toronto pluses?"

Sergachev: :Well, why? I don't think they deserve much."

Interviewer: "For the first time in 19 years, the first round was passed!"

Sergachev: "Well done here, they went through the first round, but did not go further. So I don't see any reason to rejoice here."

The Leafs' Edge-of-Seat First Round Victory

Though Toronto ultimately clinched the win, the Lightning were clearly hamstrung by injuries, losing several key players too early in the series.
Still, one cannot disregard Sergachev's viewpoint. As an athlete with multiple Stanley Cup wins under his belt, his insights into what makes a champion certainly carry weight.
This "winner-takes-all" attitude, displayed by Sergachev, is a trait often seen in those who've tasted ultimate victory. Perhaps, this elusive ingredient is what the Leafs need to inject into their game plan.
The Leafs' rollercoaster victory against the Lightning in a six-game series was anything but one-sided. Four nail-biting matches stretched into overtime, laying bare the thin line separating the two teams.
