Matthew Knies will be joining the Toronto Maple Leafs for his first full NHL season this year. Many have been praising him for how quickly he was able to adapt to the NHL last season. Now Knies is giving out praise of his own to a high-profile teammate.
Knies Putting In Work To Get Ready For Rookie Season
After a successful stint with the Maple Leafs at the end of the 2022-23 season and into the playoffs Matthew Knies is looking to improve. He has spent the offseason getting stronger, faster, and working on his skills.
He will likely start in a depth role with the Maple Leafs and look to work his way up into the top six with stars like
Auston Matthews and
John Tavares. Knies will be a big part of the Leafs' success this season as he could provide the team with a ton of value on a cheap contract.

In a recent interview, Matthew Knies was asked what he thought about Auston Matthews. In his answer, Knies had nothing but good things to say about the superstar.
Matthew Knies asked how good Auston Matthews is. «Pretty damn good. He's not just the best goal scorer in the NHL but he plays defense too. He's kind of the best overall player [in the NHL] in my eyes.»
This compliment shows how much Knies respects fellow American and teammate Auston Matthews. Knies, Matthews, and the rest of the Leafs will take to the ice in just a few weeks. Knies and Matthews will look to pick up where they left off and show everyone in the NHL why they are two of the best young players in the NHL.
